The Batteries Regulation at a glance
Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 covers batteries sold in the EU, including those built into products. Start with the battery category, replacement route and target countries. From 18 February 2027, Article 11 generally requires end-user replacement of portable batteries, subject to specific derogations and product rules. QR codes, battery passports and national EPR duties have different scopes.
