CE marking at a glance
CE marking is the manufacturer's own declaration that a product meets every EU directive and regulation that applies to it, and most products are covered by several at once. For electronics that usually means the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU and, for anything with a radio, the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU. No authority issues the mark for you: you assemble the technical documentation, draw up the EU Declaration of Conformity, and affix the mark yourself. A notified body is involved only where the applicable directive requires one.
